Westerville Planning Commission OKs conditional use for detox, residential treatment facility

The Westerville Planning Commission approved a conditional-use request April 28 to establish a facility for the treatment of substance abuse in a 22,446-square-foot building at the southwest corner of Huber Village Boulevard and Eastwind Drive.

A detoxing and short-term residential substance-use-disorder remedy facility managed and operated by Seacrest Recovery Center Detox of Ohio LLC is on monitor to open in Westerville.

Though neighboring residents expressed opposition to the power going into a 22,446-square-foot constructing on the southwest nook of Huber Village Boulevard and Eastwind Drive at 737-833 Eastwind Drive, the Westerville Planning Fee accredited the conditional use April 28, contingent on many situations. 

The fee’s vote was 5-1, with Paul Johnson, Steven Munger, Craig Treneff, Brian Schaefer and Kimberly Sharp voting sure and Dave Samuelson dissenting. Fee member Kristine Robbins was absent.

Jared Silver, Seacrest chief working officer, beforehand informed the fee about 70% of Seacrest’s sufferers are battling drug dependancy and 30% are hooked on alcohol. 

Jeff Buehler, a Westerville metropolis planner, mentioned the application first was heard in February, when it was tabled.
