In New York, Orange County officers introduced on Thursday that 40 defendants had been indicted for drug trafficking. The indictments stem from a primarily undercover operation.
The 40 defendants had been indicted for trafficking medicine together with cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and prescription medicines. Orange County District Legal professional David Hoovler says bail was set on three defendants, although bail was requested for all. He cited New York’s bail reform laws that limits the courts’ potential to set bail for offenses involving narcotics gross sales. In a single occasion, Hoovler had requested bail be set for a defendant on probation for a violent felony. The defendants are from throughout the county — from Goshen to Middletown to Newburgh to Warwick. Hoovler says a number of the circumstances arose from a “Blue and Grey Element,” a joint operation that occurred within the Metropolis of Newburgh over the summer season designed to drive down violent crime.
