HELENA, Mont. – A draft invoice for Montana’s leisure hashish program is out. Conservation and outside advocates are hoping to safe extra funds for public lands as lawmakers think about it additional.

In November, 57% of Montanans authorized Initiative 190, legalizing leisure marijuana for adults and directing almost half of the tax income collected to public lands. On Wednesday, teams rallied on the Capitol to name consideration to the distinction between the initiative and this bill.

Whitney Tawney, government director of Montana Conservation Voters, stated the invoice does present some income to conservation.

“There may be trails and parks funding that may assist with some upkeep points,” stated Tawney, “along with non-game species funding, and that’s nice. However for us, it is a place to begin.”

The draft caps funding at $650,000 for every of the paths, parks and non-game species applications. Tawney stated it would not point out the Habitat Montana program, which helps to safe public entry by acquisitions and easements.

Within the draft, funds are first directed to drug-addiction therapy after which largely funneled to the state basic income.
